Loss Prevention

  • Underage Consumption

     

    •No member/AM is to purchase alcohol beverages for any underage persons.
    •No underage drinking is permitted, and all guests that BYOB must prove proper age identification.
    •Underage drinking is not condoned and guests violating will be escorted off the premises. 

     

     

    Drinking Games

     

    •The definition of drinking games includes but is not limited to the consumption of shots of alcohol, liquor or alcoholic beverages, the practice of consuming shots equating to one’s age, “beer pong,”“century club,” “dares” or any other activity involving the consumption of alcohol which involves duress or encouragement related to the consumption of alcohol.
    •There are absolutely no drinking games allowed on DU premises at any time for any reason.
    •Fines are to be assessed ($50) if any member is caught playing such games and will be stopped at once
    •Associate members will be put up for review if caught
    A-Teams
    •We have 6- 7 man teams set up and designed to monitor and keep everything running smoothly during a social gathering
    •A-Team members must remain sober for the duration of the social event or a fine of $100 is assessed plus another A-Team session is assigned
    •Each brother is trained by the VP of Loss Prevention prior to each semester, and is held accountable to their position on their specific A-Team
    •Delta Upsilon is one of the only fraternities on campus that run a completely sober social event regulating team

     

    Possession of Drugs

     

    •Possession of any drug  or controlled substance on
    Chapter grounds by any member/associate member is cause for immediate expulsion from the chapter.
    •If an A-Team member catches a guest with paraphernalia that guest is to be escorted off the premises, and is not allowed back in. The brother with that guest as theirs will also be made to leave for the night. (We are responsible for our guests)

     

    Drinking and Driving

    •Thursday-Saturday we have a sober driver each night and goes in rotation
    •Thursday/Saturday is usually our Social Events and we utilize our sober driver from A-Team
    •Friday, brothers on Social Probation pick up the sober driver shift
    •On nights that we do not have any Social Events, the brother with lowest pin rank pick up the sober driver shift
    •Drinking is not permitted at the Chapter house Sunday-Wednesday
    •Brothers caught drinking and driving face our Judicial Board atop a $200 fine and possible expulsion from the chapter
    A-Team Procedures
    •(1)Team Leader
    -Assigned by VP of Loss Prevention
    -In charge of brothers on A-Team doing what they are supposed to
    -Will be trained on how to handle different situations, EX: Police, etc.
    -Will also act as a floater to maintain order
    -Has the final say within the A-Team

    •(2) Front Door Men
    -One checks ID’s and Flashcards
    -One checks in the alcohol
    -Mark hands for age identification
    -Follow the guest list
    -Keep an idea of how many people are in the house

    •(1) Back Door Man
    -In charge of keeping the gate closed
    -Monitors flow of traffic out of house
    -Makes sure everyone enters through the front door, and exits out the back, no one is to enter through the back door

    •(1) Stair Man
    -No non brother goes upstairs unless escorted by a brother
    -Girls can use upstairs restrooms as long as being escorted

    •(2) First Floor Man
    -Make sure that the dining room, living room, and kitchen do not become too crowded
    -Make sure NO ONE is smoking in the house

    •(1) Sober Driver
    -Will be announced before the party
    -Gives rides to brothers/guests in need of a ride home at the drivers discretion
    -Is re-leaved only after the party has ended and all guests have left
    -Acts as a floater when no rides are needed

     

     

    A-Team T-Shirts

     

    •Designated shirts are bought by all members of the fraternity since we all take turns on A-team. Brothers will also be held liable if lost.
    •Will be able to distinguish brothers from guests quickly and easily so if a problems should arise it can be assessed quickly and without trouble.

    The Black List
    •A list will be posted in the house of who is not allowed to enter the chapter house for reasons such as;
    •Liability purposes
    •Unnecessary actions
    •Mischief-makers
    •A-Team’s and all brothers are to ensure that those individuals do not gain entry
    Informal Gatherings
    •Informal Gatherings are monitored by those brothers taking part in the gathering and are held responsible for their guest and their individual actions
    •If underage drinking is present an executive member is to stop it immediately
    •Accountability is a huge thing among our chapter, and every brother has signed our Fraternities Code of Conduct condoning no such behavior
